David Bodeham.
BSc (Ind) Hons, MSc, MRSB, PfCO.
My name is David and I'm a conservation biologist, video producer, photographer based in the UK.
I earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Zoology and a Master of Science in Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Leeds, with a dissertation focusing on predictive habitat models of bats, in relation to anthropogenic disturbance.
I'm the co-founder and producer of an educational YouTube channel, Eco Sapien, a resource set up to explore the biodiversity crisis, and encourage anybody to be part of the solution for combating it. I have worked on personal and commercial media projects with a close focus on ecology and wildlife biology working with a number of UK-based and international NGOs such as the Field Studies Council (FSC) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR).
I also work as a Senior Applied Ecologist across the UK and Europe, where I’m involved with both governmental and non-governmental organisations, helping conserve biodiversity through planning policy, protective wildlife legislation and practical nature-based solutions. Over the last 10 years, I have collaborated as a researcher and field ecologist with British universities and conservation organisations such as The University of Leeds and Natural England.
Photography became a perfect complement to my work, which has brought me in close proximity to rare species and ecosystems. Over the years I have collated and curated images of biodiversity and anthropological interactions across the world.
I love nothing more than climbing up steep mountain slopes and enveloping myself in the wild. But when I’m not risking my personal safety, I’m back at the urban homestead practising sustainable living and getting stuck in to my latest DIY project.
